About Weather & Climate

Kenya’s diverse climate is just one of its many surprises. With a climate that ranges from a semi-arid desert in the north, to bubbling hot springs, the cool and temperate, eternally green tea producing highlands, the simmering heat of Lake Victoria, snow-capped mountains, chilly winter nights enjoyed around a log fire in Nairobi and an intensely tropical coastline, Kenya has it all.

Seasons Kenya’s weather

Temperatures on Kenya’s tropical coastline are high all year round, averaging 30 degrees. The Kaskazi winds blow in from the north-east during March and April, with the Kuzi ‘monsoon’ bearing down from April to October.

The warmest months are from November to April, the perfect time for a winter break in the sun. The coolest months are from July to October.

The rainy season hits Kenya’s coast twice, with tropical rains in May and June and shorter, early morning rains in November and December.

Whatever the weather, Kenya’s incredible coastline offers visits a world of outstanding natural beauty.
