Festive celebrations

Many of the activities planned do require reservations, so make sure you book your spots early to avoid disappointment, either via the app or directly through our team.

The Sands at Nomad App

The Sands at Nomad has recently launched its new app – that will allow you to get even more out of your next visit to Diani Beach on Kenya’s south coast.

The Sands at Nomad App, designed by Eleanor, available in the Google and Apple App stores, is full of useful information about the resort, dining options as well as activities and excursions. However, the app really comes into its own when you have a booking with The Sands at Nomad. With its contactless, online check-in function you can complete your check-in before you even arrive – meaning you have more time to spend enjoying your stay.

In addition to this you are able to view menus and start making reservations for dining, spa treatments, diving, and excursions from the moment your booking is confirmed, with many of these activities being instantly confirmed with just a few strokes on your phone. Building your itinerary before your trip can help relieve stress and ensure you don’t risk missing out on any of the activities on offer. Of course, for those who prefer a more spontaneous approach, then the app allows you to book and manage your stay during your time in Diani as well.

Introducing the Sands at Nomad App also works with our Thinking Green policy – as we look to reduce the impact we have on our environment. The App helps reduce the amount of paper used throughout the resort – that previously had been used to manage bookings. It also allows us to plan better showing us more data on our guest habits, as well as upcoming bookings – all of which will help reduce waste from our restaurants and bars.

To discover the app today – use the links below to download now.

The team at The Sands at Nomad are now fully vaccinated

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing you with both a fabulous and safe holiday experience here on Diani Beach, we’re delighted to announce that 100% of the team here at the Sands at Nomad have been fully vaccinated for COVID 19.

Offering the perfect beach retreat, The Sands at Nomad is the ideal spot for those looking for a relaxing getaway on one of Africa’s top-rated beaches. With plenty to do, from diving on Kenya’s coral reefs, to relaxing in the spa or dining at Indulge Fine Dining Restaurant, Nomad offers a holiday experience that encapsulates the best of the South Coast.

We will continue to follow the guidance and safety advice from the Ministry of Health, and to follow the COVID protocols we have in the resort, that allow for safe distancing, an increase in the number of handwash stations available, and for our team to continue to wear masks, that have so far proven to be very effective in keeping both our guests and team members safe over these difficult months.

Along with the team at the resort, our partners at Nomad Beach Bar, Diving the Crab, the Sands at Chale, Lazy Days Private Beach House and the Thinking Green project have all also been fully vaccinated.

Teppanyaki at Nomad

The traditional Japanese style of cooking known as teppanyaki transforms dinner into an occasion. Combining simple ingredients to create fantastic flavours that entice the senses, teppanyaki is cooked on a large hot plate, at the diners’ table.

The new teppanyaki station at Riva’s, allows our chefs to prepare your dishes in front of you, where they can show off their flair and you get to enjoy the freshest flavors straight from the traditional grill. Teppanyaki is the perfect addition to the fabulous dining options available at Nomad, along with Nomad Beach Bar, Indulge Fine Dining, and the traditional Riva’s menu.

The menu offers diners the freedom to choose and create their own perfect dishes, as you can choose between fresh locally caught fish, beef, chicken, and a wide range of fresh vegetables from our very own farm.

An evening of teppanyaki is an evening of entertainment, as well as great food, and should be on your must-do list for your next visit to The Sands at Nomad.

Extra curricular activities on Kenyan south coast

Extracurricular activities at the Coast

If you are eager to learn more about the marine environment and the wildlife while having fun, our dedicated team have put together half-day activities combining leisure with knowledge!
Here are our half-day packages that you can book on your chosen days during your stay.

Snorkel along untouched coral reefs
We are lucky to have beautiful hard and soft coral reefs with an amazing array of fish and invertebrates that can be sighted when snorkelling. Choose between a shore or boat snorkel on Chale Island, or visit Diani’s sandbank!

Glide through mangrove forests
Hop on a boat to visit the mangrove forests of Gazi Bay and learn how these unique plants can withstand life in such a salty and muddy environment. We will explore these ecosystems on foot or by boat to find out which species make up these forests and the huge number of animals that they support, both above and below the surface!

Discover the weird and wonderful rock pool inhabitants
Did you know that some species can withstand the extreme environment of rock pools? Changing temperatures and salinity, along with crashing waves and the need to hide from predators make this a unique ecosystem to study. We will look at the amazing adaptations of these species to survive here!

Learn all about sea turtles
Two of the seven species of sea turtle are commonly sighted around our resorts. We will visit any current sea turtle nests and hear about the work of Diani Turtle Watch, and try our hand at identifying sea turtles as individuals with the Olive Ridley Project sea turtle database!

Find out how to fight marine pollution
After a fun and interactive presentation about marine pollution, get ready to roll up your sleeves and grab a bag to go to the beach and remove any trash, then segregate our collection and then play the trash degradation game. We will also visit the onsite Trash to Treasure workshop with plastic and glass upcycling machines!

Private guided tour of our Marine Education Center
The visit of our Marine Education Centre and all its exhibits will be followed by a fun and interactive presentation on a topic of your choice from sea turtles, whale sharks, and cetaceans, to the importance of our oceans or the threats they face, accompanied by exciting worksheets.

Meet the cute Colobus monkeys
Look up in the branches and you will probably spot Colobus monkeys, as this is where they like to spend their days. Easily recognizable by the white fur surrounding their face and their long white tail. They are an endangered species, due to rapid habitat loss and poaching.

Encounter a rich wildlife during a forest walk
Around our resorts, we are lucky to have not only an incredible ecosystem in the ocean but also on land. Join our forest walk to encounter a rich wildlife.
